Veteran Animus Hunters & Animus Villains

These are the veteran characters from the previous forum RPG which was held on our previous RPG setting (during the calendar years 2513-2514). This RPG began sometime during 2003 and was shut down at the end of 2005 (real time). After that the RPG setting was remade into New Horizon and everything related to the previous RPG is now considered obsolete. For this reason, everything written on this page about the Veteran Animus Hunters and the Animus Villains is not in any way accurate or up-to-date. It should be considered as just a memory from the old RPG and not in any way true to the current New Horizon setting and New Horizon history. New history is made for the current New Horizon RPG, and old information is deleted. Therefore, everything written here on this page should be considered as something like an "else-world" story!

These are the old RPG characters. Most of them are senior Animus Hunters from the old RPG, and some of them don't even exist on the current world named New Horizon. One of these characters is a Vanir Wafan called Lysekoid who experienced his first real adventure in the city of Avalon, where he ran into the daring she-burglar Rosette. His mission at that point was to stop this troublesome bandit together with Kaila, a long haired female Aesir. After that the adventures on New Horizon continued, from the Goblet of Igruha in Narehl to Neo Titania where Lysekoid and Kaila met with the Crimson Legion leader Ember, back to Avalon again where they met with Silhouette for the first time. Then the story continued to the underwater base Joutunhiem where Sucher, Lysekoid, Silhouette and Kaila met and fought with Suchers evil son Indrijit. The problems of the world went downhill from there, from battles in Avalon to adventures in the Azuremar Plains. After that our Animus Hunters, by then already named the Black Sheep, went down to Trapper Town where they met for the first time with other Wafans, such as Enygma and Mace. They ran into some trouble with Grim Stalkers who decided to attack Trapper Town and eat everything that came into their path. When that story ended our team moved back to Avalon again. The adventures started to come to an end when Lysekoid, Ember, Mace and Enygma went on a few more missions together, one in Trapper Town and one then Lysekoid, Alto, Jetta, Kermit, Kaila and Hornet visited Fort Glamish for a last mission and battle together. This and much more is what our old veteran Animus Hunters experienced during the old RPG.

Lysekoid

2440-2514:

  • Real Name: Lyse

  • Race: Vanir Wafan

  • Faction: The Port of Narehl

  • Objective: Animus Hunter

Appearance:

Lysekoid is an average-sized Vanir Wafan, who is stalwart built, clad in plate armor with unique flaring thermo heatsink plates attached to his back. His armor is specially designed for these heatsink plates (thermal ventilation orifices), which in combat can be used to release flames, or as massive accelerators to close in the distance between him and his opponent. Lysekoid wears a cape, most of the time, and he wields a large two-bladed sword.

Personality:

Lysekoid is a hero character set in the New Horizon campaign setting. He adheres to a strict moral code, often attributed to the Trapper Town values. Lysekoid follows the law very strictly hoping that his commitment to operating within the law will be an example for many generations of heroes in the future. He has never killed another human or Wafan and has vowed never to do so.

Lysekoid is often perceived as lonely, competent, quite notorious and more than a little pompous.

Lysekoid is not the fastest Wafan around, but he is very resilient and, while being considerably armored, he moves well in a rough-and-tumble fight. Lysekoid has an effective self-repair system to back him up for long engagements. His weapon of choice is a two-bladed sword which he handles as any weapons master. Lysekoid is a very good fighter and as an opponent he shouldn't be taken lightly in a fight.

concept art by Eriance

Background Information:

Lysekoid was born in the year 2440 during the Great War. He was adopted by a human scientist named Selina Frost, who was an assistant professor in Wafan Engineering at the University of Avalon, working at the Wafan Science (WS) Lab - department of Wafan Artificial Intelligence, Bioinformatics and Robotics. Selina travelled a lot studying different Wafan technologies from other recognized scientists. She was especially fond of Narehlian Wafan Architectures. During the 'Equilibrium Project', Selina worked on Wafan DNA manipulation, trying to create two special Medeans. That's when Aina and Lyse were born. However, the manipulations Selina made were not fully successful. Aina was born as a female Aesir Wafan who in time became a notorious fighter and very skilled Animus Hunter to add. Lyse was born as a male Vanir Wafan. None of the two Wafans became Medeans though and therefore the 'Equilibrium Project' was closed down and labeled a failure. One day (around the year 2470) Aina disappeared during a mission and she was never found again. Shortly after, Selina died for unknown reasons. It was at that point that Lyse decided to do something more meaningful with his life. He changed his name to Lysekoid and went on his first adventure. In time, Lysekoid started working for Sucher and joined the Black Sheep. He also became a very skilled warrior, and ultimately a member of the Narehlian Knights and the high protector of Narehl.

Silhouette

  • Real Name: Cliodna

  • Race: Aesir Wafan

  • Faction: Unknown

  • Objective: Animus Hunter

Background Information:

Cliodna, the twin-sister to Dana, was created as an Aesir Wafan by her creator Aleta Campbell, a well-born Olympian female and citizen of Xanadu. Aleta had beneficiated from the wealth necessary to study at the Jotunheim Lab - the main office of the Brain Trust, and it made it possible for her to create Dana and Cliodna. Cliodna is a person eager to please, eager to fit in, and eager to receive praise. She is a pleasant sociable person whom has worked as something of a secretary/assistant to professor Sucher for many years, mostly because he helped her to stand on her feet and gain confidence in herself. Today she is known by the name Silhouette.

Crimson Ember

  • Real Name: Dana

  • Race: Vanir Wafan

  • Faction: Unknown

  • Objective: Animus

Background Information:

Dana, the twin-sister to Cliodna, was created as a Vanir Wafan by her creator Aleta Campbell, a well-born Olympian female and citizen of Xanadu. Aleta had beneficiated from the wealth necessary to study at the Jotunheim Lab - the main office of the Brain Trust, and it made it possible for her to create Dana and Cliodna. Dana is a strong person, well aware of her own self-worth. Her desire for independence slowly turned into restlessness and rebelliousness - understanding she was in a pretty white box and that there was much outside which was ugly and did not care in the slightest for her. Dana grew especially disdainful of Xanadu for their foolishly elitistic culture, and in time she declared herself the first enemy of Xanadu. Today she is known by the name Crimson Ember.

Kaila

  • Race: Vanir Wafan

  • Faction: Unknown

  • Objective: Animus Hunter

Background Information:

Kaila was a female Vanir Wafan. She was very cute, with a pretty face. However, make no mistake, she was a fighter to the bone. Though her armor was a bit scuffed up, like it's frequently repaired her primary weapon was a buster-like weapon which she wore a bit like a gauntlet on her right hand. When she was not fighting the weapon slid backwards to be out of the way.

Alto

  • Real Name: Seth G'lane

  • Race: Promethean Cyborg (human)

  • Faction: Aquilon's Reach

  • Objective: Animus Hunter

Appearance:

Alto stands at a height of 6'3, and looks relatively young no older than his mid twenties. Physically he is lithe and agile. He has blond hair that is spiked slanting backwards sometimes accompanied by a blue headband. His armor looks like a skintight red jumpsuit covered in black and blue plates with red highlights. The suit is obviously built for speed over bulk, a fact that contrasts heavily with the fact that he is commonly seen with a large maul as a favorite weapon. His armor is commonly accompanied by a large blue cloak. He also commonly wears an attached pack that houses a gripper arm for sample collection and whenever he needs an extra hand.

Personality:

Seth gets along well with most anybody, but can't stand prejudice. He sees no difference between Wafans or humans besides an outward appearance that can be changed anyway. He is fiercely loyal to his friends. When it comes to research, he is single minded in his task, pushing forward long after others have gotten tired and fallen to the wayside. He is willing to push beyond what others feel is safe or relevant at the moment, and when no one is there to back him up he is entirely willing to use his own body to continue the research.

concept art by Eriance

Background Information:

Born in the underground city of Deep Aquilon, Seth was the oldest child of two prominent researchers. His father Dr. David G'lane was a well known and accomplished Surgeon and Cybernetic technician. His mother Dr. Emily G'lane was a researcher pushing herself toward the forefront of genetics research. He was followed in line by a younger sister Cassandra known for her skill and love of music, drawing packed shows by age 12. At the age of 15, Seth was already working his way through college and was poised to graduate by age 20 with a dual doctorate in genetics and cybernetics. On the way to a research convention, his family's vehicle crashed. He and his father were the only survivors, but he was so badly injured that he seemed almost certain to die. His father pulled every string he could and hooked his son up to a prototype life support system that had been designed partly by his and his wife's joint work. Over the next three months, Seth remained in a state of semi-coma awaking occasionally to the sounds of music in the hospital and calling for his sister. This trend earned him the nickname Alto. During this time, his father set to work on rebuilding his son's body. Utilizing his own and his deceased wife's research, Dr. David G'lane poured his entire family's fortune into the project eventually developing a soft machine body that left his son looking almost identical to before the accident. When the project was finished, Seth awoke from his coma to his father's joyous face. The happiness was short lived however as David G'lane was killed only weeks later by a man protesting against Prometheans and Medeans. But life goes on and so did Alto who began his studies once more. Through his own research, he has been unafraid of using his own body as a guinea pig. Rest assured that should he complete this research into what basically amounts to a biological Wafan, he will be the processes' first subject.

Enygma

  • Real Name: Kam Xel

  • Race: Promethean Cyborg (human)

  • Faction: Neo Titania

  • Objective: Animus Hunter

Background Information:

Enygma was born as Kam Xel, the grandson of the Icarus Pilot, Enygma was an unfortunate victim of a horrific early colony attack by native life. Unable to save him, what was left of his body was placed in a cryo container. While he waited for rescue, decades passed. His colony city had been ground to dust, with only an emergency power generators orange glare to keep the stalwart scientist company. Discovered two years ago when the failing power signature was discovered. Given extensive cybernetic implants, and brought back to the world of the living, Enygma was a man a century out of touch. His wife was dead and buried with the rest of the colonists, and all the family he had left didn't even remember his name. With only a holographic representation of his wife to interact with his archaic data assistant as company he adopted the named 'Enygma,' after a childhood hero of his and set out to find a new place for himself in the world, eventually finding Sucher Savant and his aptly named Black Sheep.

Mace

  • Race: Vanir Wafan

  • Faction: The Avalon Council

  • Objective: Animus Hunter

Background Information:

One day when Mace came home from a day of mineral research he felt something was wrong when walking home. When he got closer to his house he noticed smoke coming from it. Quickly he ran home as fast as he could, but it was too late already. The house was on fire. He quickly ran inside, trying to find Dr. Abbott, his creator. He entered his room, which was set ablaze, and there laying on the floor he found Dr. Abbott already dead. He picked him up and carried him outside just before the house collapsed.

When observing his mentor and father he noticed a cut in his chest and a shot-wound in his leg. He was dead, apparently murdered. Until this day, Mace never found out who had killed his creator. Mace buried his creator that same day, next to the ashes of their home, and left towards Avalon on the very next day. Equipped only with his single-ball-mace and chain he entered the city.

Mace was originally a simple courier for Avalon. However he always dreamed of becoming more. Retrofitting himself for combat, and adopting a weapon that was his namesake, he tried and failed to become part of the Avalon guard. Unable to make his dream a reality, he wandered for awhile, before meeting Professor Sucher and being offered a position in his private organization. In the private racket, Mace flourished.

Hornet

  • Race: Aesir Wafan

  • Faction: Unknown

  • Objective: Animus Hunter

Appearance:

Hornet is an athletic-bodied Aesir with fiery red hair, tied out of the way, and calm green eyes. Her features are designed to be aesthetic to look upon, but not stunning or especially memorable. Her light armor is highly aerodynamic and subtly styled in valkyrie imagery such as wings, spears and braids. Her colors are mainly dark red with white trims and emerald underscores.

Personality:

Hornet is quiet and humble by design. Her early life was as a maid and doting companion, and changes in her life have done little to shake her underlying submissive nature. Hornet is contemplative, torn between two systems of thought: one warm and nurturing, the other a dizzying array of combat calculations (influenced by her tactical computer). Around friends she mindfully controls her knee-jerk impulses, but in strange situations her behavior more resembles a spooked animal, acting on reflexes. She has an almost religious reverence for physical conflict, particularly swordplay, as violence triggers a euphoria that drives her to seek out adversaries and force them into single combat.

Ultimately, much of Hornet's identity is driven by the unattainable goal of defeating her deceased master in combat. She stumbles to find an identity for herself outside of her former life as a sparring partner, and has difficulty recognizing her own place in her environment and the lives of the people she encounters.

concept art by Eriance

Background Information:

Once, not too long ago, there was a man who had more than enough, and it bored him. His military career bored him, his wealth bored him, and his six household Aesir bored him. So he decided to have a seventh Aesir crafted. She would be younger, prettier, more graceful, and with fiery hair and sparkling green eyes, fully modernized and optioned. Most importantly, she would adore him eternally. The new Aesir quickly became the master's favorite. She was his constant companion, but the master had only two real joys: to be surrounded by beautiful women and to fight. The crimson Aesir was a terrible sparring partner; she was not built to fight and scarcely learned anything from his instruction on swordplay. The company who had crafted her made frequent visits to the master's manse to repair her damage, and when they did, they tickled the master's ear with suggestions. Enhancements that, though costly, could make her the master's equal. Her first enhancements made their duels a thrill for the master, but she was no real challenge. And so she was enhanced again, and again... until one day her master installed a new system, a combat computer, into her. The new system was a difficult adjustment for her, but in time she would learn to control it. Like a valkyrie of his own making she would become a warrior, and one day she would show him death and the way to Valhalla. Unfortunately, that day never came, because the master went to war and he never came home. Men came to the manor to account and divide the late master's assets. They appraised his seven Aesir for auction, stamped a notation of "modified" next to the number of the master's favorite, and took her away from the manor and her life with the master. They left in a transporter: seven house Aesir, two unconcerned men, and a slew of beam sabers for the auction block. The wreck of a transporter and the escape of seven Aesir barely registered as news that night. Six Aesir became free, and the seventh, she became Hornet.

Megan

  • Race: Promethean Cyborg (human)

  • Faction: The Port of Narehl

  • Objective: Animus Hunter

Background Information:

Megan led a more or less ordinary life. She was raised by a single mother, only met her father briefly. And while she even lost her arm at one point. it had little effect on her life as a whole. She worked for the Night Panthers as a courier, but never thought of herself as a criminal, as opposed to a woman who wanted to pay off her landmaster in less than ten years. It was only when her last pickup was halted by a bizarre amorphous shapechanging blue blob that her life took a turn for the worse. From there, she was stalked at every turn, and thrust into the global affairs, forced to deal with the broader implications of global events.

Kermit

  • Real Name: Arthur Thompson

  • Race: Promethean Cyborg (human)

  • Faction: Freelance

  • Objective: Animus Hunter

Background Information:

Like all good aristocrat children, they all volunteered for service, but only Arthur returned. But when he came back he had lost two important things, his arm and his heart. Forsaking Aquilon, Thompson became a freelance reporter, and inadvertently helped uncover some of the dirtiest laundry on the planet.

concept art by Eriance

K-Ozz

  • Race: Jotun Wafan

  • Faction: None

  • Objective: Animus

Background Information:

K-Ozz was originally not even a Wafan. Though built on a Jotun Frame, as his name suggests he was a drone used only for the most dangerous of mining assignments. He was little more than a remote operated tool. However, one day, K-Ozz simply disappeared, just to return more than twelve hours later, on auto pilot to recharge. His report was that he had come into contact in the deepest portion of the Blue Shoes Mine with an unknown energy phenomenon. After recharging, K-Ozz ignored his repair orders, and killed every single miner present for the late shift, disappearing into the mines with the rest of the smaller drones. His only calling card was his name scrawled on the wall with a mining pick.

Csaru

  • Race: Medean (human)

  • Faction: New Chania

  • Objective: Animus

Background Information:

A recent addition to the Brain Trust of Aquilon, Csaru is a Medean with almost no past, however due to his extensive portfolio of essays of theology, philosophy and historical literature he was granted a position within The Brain Trust. He appears to have adopted a mentor position with Suchers son Indrijit.
