Name
Naming your character:
New Horizon is a space colony far away from Earth... but the people living here are still descendants of Earthlings like us for the most part, albeit several centuries in the future, in a much more advanced setting than our own 21st-century Earth.
Still, names for the most part would be pretty much follow the same trend our own do. Humans and cyborgs would typically have first names and last names, those likely heavily dependent on the culture they grew with (each citystate usually favors a few over others).
Some cyborgs might not fit the bill, regarding this. Some other characters might have nicknames they use and leave their own names secret... but bear in mind your character biography tells us everything about your character - so we want no secrets from you.
Wafans can follow a similar naming scheme as humans and even have a family name if they attach their identity strongly to a certain human family (unique circumstances have also birthed actual Wafan families/groupings, such as the 'Savants'). Usually though their names will still be singular, often unique or reflecting a specific ability that the Wafan is recognized by.
Noting the character's name pronunciation under the name in smaller font if it is a peculiar one might be nice if you feel it is needed.
Other guidelines to bear in mind:
No names of well-known characters from books, cartoons (anime counts too), games, manga, or history unless they are either universal or justifiable.
No, you cannot be a legendary hero. You can't spell his name backward and expect us not to notice.
Nick-names can also be chosen, if your character has one.

Gender
Humans are usually male and female. There are the occasional deviants whom might happen to be hermaphrodites and such. For diplomatic reason, we recommend you not to use the latter.
Cyborgs gender might still matter... or it might not. That's up to how you decide to make your character.
Wafans most of the time make believe that they are one gender or another... but it's mostly in the way they were built, the personality programmed and so - in many ways it is playacting that they more or less manage to convince themselves and the rest of their society without it being actually correct. Wafans giving birth to other Wafans is typically not possible; they might be made for intercourse, but usually don't benefit from it. Howevr, it isn't unheard of for Wafans to take a parenting or mentoring role to other they feel they can care for or take under their wing.

Faction
Where your character came from:
New Horizon's city-states offer the following factions to join. Odds are your character might come from one of those places:
Click on the links above to read and learn about each faction!
The Avalon Council is not a faction per say, but rather an international organization whose stated aims are facilitating international cooperation between the other 7 factions.
You may also choose to be independent or freelance (like mercenaries, for example), or to be known as a Guild Rat. For more details on the flavor of each factions then click on the links above. Paying attention to the map for city names might not be a bad idea either.
Choosing a faction in itself may play a sizeable role in the creation of your character, but it does not doom you from always remaining in it. Through your character's life, you may very well go around and curry the favor of other factions. Just as your character is a dynamic growing entity, so are the factions - it is up to your character to seek his or her life within this competitive environment.
If you find some details of factions which interest you lacking and/or would like to flesh out something you feel has little details in it, feel free to contact one of the Game Masters and approach them with your proposition. While there are no insurances that the ideas you bring will be included, New Horizon has so far grown out of interactive storytelling and some parts of it have endured and developed through the contributions and interest of players.

Examples:
Ember was originally created to be within an offshoot of the Immaculate Order which was called the Crimson Legion.
Sucher Savant was once part of the Brain Trust, Combatd in Xanadu, but political events caused him to throw his lot with the Avalon Council.
Lysekoid was created in Avalon, and thus belonged to the Avalon Council faction back then. Nowadays, he's a knight protector of Narehl and belongs to the Port of Narehl faction.

Character Description
Describe your character. Is he/she tall or short, thin or fat? What kind of cloths does your character wear? What weapons does your character use? Is he/she good or evil? People say that a picture says more than a thousand words, but since you may not have a picture, you just need to rely on your words instead.
