Commonwealth of Avalon

The Commonwealth of Avalon was formed in the wake of the disastrous fall of New Horizons first government, the Peoples Republic of New Horizon, at the hands of a catastrophic earthquake at Neo Titania.

The Republic had been little more than a thinly veiled Absolute Monarchy, and the Republican House of Representatives which presided over it had very little real input into society, President Zechariah Mosphin was king in all but name. When the colony crumbled, no one was hesitant to abandon the President.

The new colony of Avalon was founded under Zechariah's younger, but much more well meaning sibling Thadeus Mosphin, Avalon still had potent financial backing, but was much more conservative than the hedonistic excesses of Neo Titania, and during his reign as President, encouraged exploration outward into the unknown territory, and inward into the arts and prose of their own culture, to make something new.

As secondary colonies formed, and the possibility of divisive civil wars arose, Thaddeus proposed a radical shift in government, forming a council composed of a representative from each of the seven budding city states to form a 'Septumvirate Council,' composed of an appointed speaker from each government, and an official elected from within their own number to rule over them as the Supreme Arbiter of all conflicts between city states.

Geodites

The idea that crystals are stored memories gives Wafans a modest obsession with crystals of all sorts, and they often have an irrational coveting of crystals, like the desire humans have for money, and precious metals. Not necessarily a weakness, but an interesting systemic quirk, which has lead to specially grown tiny crystals called Geodites (often just called Geos, or Geo Crystals), which have a small metal band embedded around their middle which in turn have serial numbers written on them. Geodites are the single universal currency of New Horizon.
